isn't it spelt 'massif'?
Ma-assif it's spelt like that, more like Masssii-v that a more staines dialect I think but then I live in sur-y.
Not sure that Staines is really mountainous enough to have a massif.
Wikipedia, surely the authority on this and all other subjects, spells it "Massiv".

Well Staines may not have a massive, massif but there is a bit of a burm (small mound) in runneymede meadows where the Magna Carter was famously signed just after lunch so making a remarkable document signed 1215 at 12.15 (not a lot of people know that)
